In the title compound, C(8)H(9)N(5), a Schiff base derived from N-methyl-pyrrole-2-carbaldehyde and 3-amino-1,2,4-triazole, the C=N double bond linking the two aromatic rings has a Z conformation. The two rings are twisted by 24.20 (5)°. A chain motif results from N-H⋯N hydrogen bonding.

There are two independent mol-ecules in the asymmetric unit of the title compound, C13H14N2, in which the dihedral angles formed by the pyrrole and benzene rings are 83.63 (8) and 87.84 (8)°. In the crystal, mol-ecules are linked via pairs of N-H⋯N hydrogen bonds, forming inversion dimers, which are further connected by C-H⋯π inter-actions.

Mol-ecules connected through these hydrogen bonds are arranged into polymeric chains extending along the c axis.
